In today's economy, the future is not as certain. Business is up-and-down. As a small business owner or manager today, you may find yourself with more workload than your staff can handle. You need to get those orders out, for instance, but you feel it's risky to hire more fulltime employees.
Online Data Entry involves logging into your system and entering data directly into your application. For in-house systems, the typical connection is through a secure (encrypted) "tunnel" known as a Virtual Private Network (VPN). If your application is browser-based, with outside access already established, it's even simpler.

Web Data Collection
Also knows as web "scraping", this is the process of getting data off of internet web pages. Though very popular for lead generation, there are many other applications.
Perhaps you are a law firm wanting to ensure your clients are on the docket on the Clerk of the Court's site. Or maybe you sell organizers for garages and closets and you want to build a list of leads. We can access sites that list individuals that have recently moved, for instance.
You may manufacture a product and would like to gather public opinion. We can search and find user forums or review sites and scrape their comments off and into a file to send you.
In-House applications
To enter data into in-house systems, we connect into your internal network via the Internet. Typically the connection type of choice is a Virtual Private Network (or VPN), because it requires password authentication as well as encryption.
This process would be chosen over batch entry for several reasons: Perhaps there is no facility to import a batch of data from a file. Perhaps there are entry fields that require lookups into local data tables for validation. Or, perhaps you are just in a hurry and need the data as soon as possible.
There are a myriad of different in-house applications, but typically the work we do is filling in forms such as...
* Customer Orders - great when you are shorthanded or in your busy seasonPricing is typically per record (form) and gets better with volume.
* Registration data - Cruise lines, travel planners
* Court Cases - Clerk of the Courts
* Inventory Maintenance
Web-based applications
Applications that run in an internet browser are considered "web-based", even if these applications are not made available to the general public. Compared with more traditional In-House systems mentioned above, web-based systems most always require less setup time. There is typically no software to install, no encrypted connections and less training.
Redundant Broadband Connections
As the name implies, online data entry requires our operators to be online! If their connection is down, they do not work. When they don't work you might not get your work on time and we do not get paid! Therefore, as you might imagine, we have installed multiple high-speed Internet connections with separate Internet Service Providers to reduce the possibility of this occurring.
Independent Power Supply
All of our important servers, workstations faxes and printers are protected from power interruption by a 12.5Kva Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). Furthermore, within five minutes of power loss a 46Kva Natural Gas-Fed generator kicks in to power all systems including lighting and air-conditioning.
The drawback? If we are ever late delivering your data, we can no longer blame Florida Power and Light.
Workstations
Our data entry network consists of both Windows and Linux-based workstations. We can support any remote access requirements you may have including:
* Windows Terminal Services
* Logmein
* GotoMyPC
* Telnet (VT100, ANSI, Wyse, SCO, etc.)
* 3270 Terminal Emulation
* VNC

norwegian cruise line
One of the first of the modern cruise lines that had not been in the ocean liner business is NCL. They started up in 1966 as Norwegian Caribbean Line with a single ship (the Sunward) and now have fourteen ships in the fleet with more coming. NCL's innovative "Freestyle Cruising" concept has impressed passengers world-wide, and has already found imitators among competing cruise lines.
NCL outsources the data entry of passenger registration as well as several other documents to Datakey. Access to their internal system from our offices is via a Virtual Private Network. Operators login and establish a session with one of several Windows Terminal Services servers.
"We have been working with Datakey for several years now. Their accuracy is almost flawless. With a minimal amount of intervention from our end, they are able to perform all of the required data entry projects with extreme timeliness and accuracy.
Response to our needs is quick and in most cases there are no issues with the procedural specifications. There has never been a problem with turnaround requests for day-to-day requirements as well as special project requests.
Datakey has an extensive knowledge of our Reservation and Client Database and we have no issues with any requests for their services in either of these areas.
Our working relationship has always been a complete professional and delightful one."
